Po viešnagės Khao Sok Nacionaliniame parke, apie 1,5 valandos automobiliu judėjome šiauriau, iki prieplaukos, kur laivas mus nuplukdė į Koh Phra Thong salą. Tiesa, prieš tai dar aplankėme nedidukę šventyklą, kur galima buvo sutikti beždžionių ir jos buvo gana draugiškos.

After visiting Khao Sok National Park, we had a 1,5 hours long trip up to the north, to the pier, where we were taken by boat to Koh Phra Thong island. But before that we have also visited a temple, were we met a lot of monkeys. They were quite friendly.
Ko Phra Thong sala dar vadinama Auksinio Budos sala dėl legendos, pasakojančios, kad nuostabi auksinė Budos statula buvo pavogta piratų, paslėpta šioje saloje ir niekada neatrasta. Šiandien sala pasižymi 15km neapgyvendintais laukiniais paplūdimiais, kuriuose mažai turistų. Tai ideali vieta ramybei. Nuolatinių gyventojų yra apie 300 ir sala užima apie 88 kvadratinių kilometrų plotą. Tai viena geriausių vietų šalyje paukščiams stebėti ir gretimoje negyvenamoje Ko Ra saloje galima aptikti net 100 jų rūšių. Ko Phra Thong nėra džiunglių, ji labiau primena tarpais Savaną tarpais man lietuvišką pajūrį su pušaitėmis. 2004 metais sala buvo nuniokota cunamio.
Pirmą dieną atvykę tik pavakarieniavome ir įsikūrėme. Gyvename Tawan nameliuose, kur savininkai turi ir kavinę, kurioje viską valgom, nes maisto čia nusipirkti tiesiog nėra kur. Yra dar kaimynystėje poilsiaujanti vokiečių šeimyna. Einant pakrante yra ir kitų turistinių nameliukų. Bet iš esmės čia nėra nei automobilių, nei interneto, elektra įjungiama tik nuo 18 val. Ir išjungiama apie 23 val.
Antrą dieną tyrinėjome apylinkes lėtai. Kayakais plaukėm į gretimas saleles, kur nardėm ir matėm daug visokių spalvotų žuveliukų ir koralų. Šioje saloje yra įsikūręs Naucrates savanorių centras, kuris rūpinasi vėžlių išsaugojimu, tai pasistengus galima jų čia pamatyti. Dar šiek tiek pasivaikštinėjome pakrante, pagaudėm krabus ir parankiojom kriauklių. Vaikai laimingi, kolkas sako, kad čia jiems patinka labiausiai iš visų alankytų vietų.

Ko Phra Thong is also called the island of the Golden Buda. The legend tells, that the beautiful golden Buda statue was stolen by pirates, hidden in this island and was never found. Today this island is known for 15 km of wild beaches and there are not a lot of tourists. So, a perfect place for relaxation. There are around 300 inhabitants in the island and it covers 88 square kilometres. It is one of the best places in Thailand for bird watching and another inhabitant Ko Ra island has 100 types of them. There is no rainforest in Ko Phra Thong, it looks more like savannah or sometimes it reminds me of the Lithuanian beaches. The island experienced a tsunami in 2004.
On the first day we just came and checked the place. We live in Tawan bungalow and there is a small café owned by the same family. So, we eat and drink there as there are no other possibilities to buy food. There is a family from Germany in another bungalow and if you have a walk on the beach you can find other bungalows with cafes, so you can also eat there. But basically, it is an island without cars, internet, electricity is turned on only at 6pm and being turned off again at 11pm.
On the second day we just explored the island. Very slowly. We used kayaks to swim to another small islands and do some snorkelling there. We saw some beautiful fishes and corals. Naucrates project is in this island and their goal is to save the turtles, so we can see turtles as well if we will be lucky. We had a short walk by the beach, catching crabs and collecting seashells. Kids are happy, they say, that it is their favourite place of all they have visited on this trip.
Trečią dieną Justas kėlėsi anksčiau ir ėjo pabėgioti iki miestelio, nes čia yra keli pasirodo, bet tolokai pėsčiomis. Šią dieną buvo šilčiau nei vakar, vėl mėgavomės vandens pramogomis ir pasivaikščiojimais pakrante. Ketvirtąją ir penktąją dienomis viską kartojome.

On the third day on the island, Justas woke up earlier and had a morning run to the small village 8km away from our bungalow. This day was warmer than previous days, so again, we were having some water fun and long walks on the beach. On the fourth and on the fifth days we were just repeating everything.
Bet penktąją dieną dar sugalvojome nueiti iki miestelio, kuris yra už kokių 4 km. Į parduotuvę, čipsų! O diena pasitaikė karštoka. Kelias per tokias žoles, stepes, nes kaip minėjau, čia nėra tankių miškų ar džiunglių. Nuotraukose matysite vienintelę salos gatvę. Ja galiausiai pasiekėme miestelį, kuris pasirodė esąs tikras vaiduoklių miestas. Ten buvo mažas savadarbis muziejukas, tad nusipirkę čipsų vienintelėje parduotuvėje, kurie tuo pačiu yra ir ponios namai, užsukome į jį. Ten buvo daug informacijos apie vėžlius ir šiek tiek salos istorijos. Iš ten sužinojome, kad po cunamio, kuris nušlavė visus gyvenamuosius namus ir šiek tiek gyvybių, buvo pastatyta daug tokių kotedžų, kuriuose šeimos, netekusios namų galėtų gyventi. Tačiau mums keista, kad viskas taip apleista ir tik kas koks dešimtas iš tų kotedžų yra apgyvendintas. Pasirodo nemažai žmonių, kuriems reikėjo tų namų, net nebuvo salos gyventojai ir su laiku išsikėlė, tad ten gyvena tik žvejų šeimos. Čia kelios nuotraukos. Man tikrai atrodo graudokai, bet svarbu, kad yra karaliaus portretas, skulptūra bei socialinė reklama apie šalmų naudojimą.

But on the last, fifth, day on the island, we decided to have a walk to the small village. To buy some chips! The days was really hot, and the trip was through the grass and as mentioned before, there are no forests, rain forests, that means no shadows as well. You can see the main street of the island on the photos. Finally, by walking we have reached the village, that really looks like a ghost village. There was a small museum, so after buying some chips from the only shop, we have visited the museum. There were a lot of information about turtles and Naucrates project and a little bit of the history of Koh Phra Thong island. We found out, that after tsunami, which destroyed all the houses and killed some people, a lot of cottages were built for families to live in. But we thought it was strange that almost all of them were empty. Apparently, a lot of people, who requested for these houses, moved out of the island and no only some fishermen families live there. There are some photos. It really looks some kind sad, but still they have a statue, a picture of the kind and a social advertisement about using helmets.
Gruodžio 20 dieną, praleidę Koh Phra Thong saloje penkias dienas ir tikrai pailsėję judėjome atgal į žemyną. Ir praėjo jau 13 mūsų kelionės dienų.
On the 20th of December, after spending 5 days on Koh Phra Thong island, we got back to the continent. It is the 13th day of out trip.
