Šiemet su Justu minime 10-ąsias vedybų metines. Nei daug nei mažai, tikimės dar nemažai prisukti.
Ta proga dar prieš metus pradėjome derinti atostogas tik dviese, kuomet seneliai padėtų mums su vaikais Danijoje. Ačiū jiems! Laikas dviese jau tikrai buvo reikalingas, bet ir vaikų labai pasiilgom, norėjom, kad jie viską patirtų kartu, viską pamatytų savo akimis. Na bet bus tų progų grįžti.
Į Kaliforniją skridome per Frankfurtą ir leidomės Los Andžele. Ten pirmąją dieną praktiškai skyrėme pripratimui prie vietinio laiko ir įsikūrimui per airbnb surastame kambaryje Los Andželo pakraštyje. Išsinuomavome kabrioletą ir nemažai laiko Los Andžele praleidome tiesiog kamščiuose.

Me and Justinas are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary this year. For that ocassion, we started planning holidays well in advance as we needed grandparents to take care of the kids in Denmark. Thank you both! We really needed that time together, but we have also missed kids. We wanted them to experience everything together with us, to see the beauty of California with their own eyes. But well, I hope, we will have a lot of chances to come back.
We were flying to Los Angeles via Frankfurt. On the first day we did not do a lot, just tried to get used to different time zone and settled in a room, that we have found through airbnb. We have also rented a convertible car and spent a lot of time in the traffic in LA.
Mūsų kelionės tikslas buvo labiau gamta nei miestai, tad Los Andžele praleidome tik vieną pilną dieną. Ir visai nesigailėjome, džiaugėmės ištrūkę iš kamščių ir karščio. Pirmiausia nukeliavome į paplūdimius - Santa Monica ir Venice, nes troškome įmerkti kojas į vandenyną. Tikrai patiko ten pasivaikštinėti ir pasimaudyti, nors nemažas kiekis benamių badė akis. Įdomu dar ir tai, kad ten yra įkurta savotiška "Venecija", kuri toli gražu ne tokia gera kaip tikroji.

The goal of this trip was to see a nature, not cities, so we spent only one fool day in LA. And we were not sorry about that, as we spent most of it in the traffic. We started from visiting LA beaches - Santa Monica and Venice as we wanted to see and feel the Pacific Ocean. We had a nice walk there. Interesting place is Venice as someone tried to copy Venice in Italy. Well, the one in Italy is still better!
Paskui nuvažiavome į Holivudo bulvarą ir įžymybių alėją pasivaikštinėti, bet labai didelio įspūdžio nepatyrėme. Turbūt tikrai Holivudo dvasiai patirti reikia eiti į kino studijas ir pramogų vietas, bet mes neturėjom tiek laiko.Galiausiai užkopėme ant kalno pamatyti LA iš viršaus.

Later we drove to Holywood Boulevard and Hall of fame. It was ok, but we were not amazed, probably, you need to spend more time at movie studios and other special places to feel the spirit, but we did not have time for that. At the end of the day, we had a little hike up to the hill to see LA from above.
Kitą rytą palikome LA ir leidomės į kelionę šiauriau, palei Ramiojo vandenyno pakrantę. Pirma stotelė buvo Santa Barbara, kuri visai patiko, tokia nedidukė, jauki ir rami. Aplankėme Alice Keck Memorial nediduką parką, su augalais ir vėžliais, pasivaikštinėjome prieplauka (nustebino, kad automobiliais galima važiuoti net šituo mediniu tiltu) ir paskanavome tacos'ų.

Next morning we continued our trip by driving up to North, by the coast of amazing Pacific Ocean. The first stop was Santa Barbara and we like that town, it is small, cosy and relaxed. We have visited a Alice Keck Memorial park, had a walk on the pier (we were surprised, that you can drive the car on that wooden bridge) and tasted amazing tacos.
Iš anksto mes susiplanavome tik keletą nakvynių - LA mieste ir kempingus nacionaliniuose parkuose, nes paskaitėme, kad reikia. Visų kitų vietų nakvojimui ieškojome ekspromtu pakeliui. Bekeliaudami pakrante stabtelėjome Pismo Beach, kuris labai mums patiko. Tad susiradome fainą motelį miestelyje, pasivaikštinėjome pajūriu ir skaniai pavakarieniavome.

We have booked only few places to sleep on this trip - ib LA and camprogrounds in the National parks, as we read, that it is not a bad idea. All other motels were found just on the way. When travelling on Pacific coast, we had a stop at Pismo Beach. We liked it so much, so we found a cosy motel, had a nice walk and tasty dinner together.
Gerai išsimiegoję, tiksliau iki 7 ryto ilgiausiai, manau, kad mums visą kelionę tęsėsi jet lag'as, judėjome pakrante toliau irgi be plano. Po dienos nuostabių vandenyno vaizdų (matėme kur ilsisi jūros liūtai, vieną labiausiai fotografuojamų Bixby tiltą, krioklių ir daug daug mėlyno mėlyno vandens), sustojome nakvynei Monterey žvejų miestelyje - žaviame, jaukiame, su prieplaukoje miegui besiruošiančiais jūrų liūtais.

We were usually sleeping until 7am, I think, that we had a jet lag the whole trip. We left Pismo Beach and spent one day driving by the amazing coast. We saw sea lions resting, visited one of the most popular Brixby bridges, waterfalls and saw a lot of very blue water. We stopped at Monterey for a night - small and cosy fishing village with sea lions under the pier, getting ready for the night sleep.
Kitą rytą leidomės į 17mylių mokamą kelią, einantį per Monterey pusiasalį. Labai gražus, ramus kelias, su nuostabiais vaizdais tiek į mišką, tiek į vandenyną. Nuotraukoje su tokia uola matysite, kad ji visa aplipusi ruoniais.

Next morning we drove a 17mile road, very nice, relaxing drive with a nice ocean view and also some forests. In a photo with a rock in the ocean, you can see, that there are many seals on it.
Ir tuomet mes jau palikome nuostabiąją Ramiojo vandenyno pakrantę, pasukome į rytus, į dykumas ir leidomės į kelią link Yosemite nacionalinio parko. Pakrantėje nebuvo karšta, kartais tebuvo tik 16 laipsnių, tuo tarpu pasukus nuo vandens į dykumas, jau kepino 40 laipsnių karštis. Apsistojome Merced mieste ir praktiškai nekišome nosies laukan tą dieną.

And then we left that amazing coast and turned into east, into desserts - we started our trip to Yosemite National Park. It was not so hot at the coast, sometimes only 16 degrees and then we got into 40 degrees. We have spent evening and night at Merced, but it was sooo hot, that we basically stayed at the motel room or visited some shops.
Ir tuomet mes nukeliavome į kalnus! Yosemite Nacionalinis parkas yra tikras gamtos stebuklas, bet ir žmonių buvo gana nemažai. Pradėjome nuo aukštybėse esančio Glacier taško, nuo kurio matosi pagrindinės parko grožybės - Half Dome uola, El Capitan uola ir Yosemite slėnis apačioje.

And then we reached the mountains! Yosemite National Park is a real treasure of the nature. But also there were a lot of people. We started from the Glacier point, where you can see the main attractions of the park - Half Dome, El Capitan and Yosemite valley.
Tuomet mes dvi naktis nakvojome tokiame tarsi kempinge, bet jis be patogumų, tiesiog stovyklavietė su vieta palapinei, laužaviete, stalu ir dėže, į kurią reikia sudėti maistą ir kosmetiką, kad nerastų meškos.

And then we spent 2 nights in the tent on a special campground. Each visitor has a place for the tent, fireplace, table and a box, where you need to put food and toileteries, so black bears can not find them.
Antrą Yosemite parko dieną skyrėme keliaudami išilgai parko einančiu Tioga keliu. Stojome maudytis ežeruose, lipome į kalną ir grožėjomės gamta.

On the second day at Yosemite, we were driving accross the park, on Tioga Road. We were stopping to enjoy the view, dive into the lakes or hike a bit.
Tą dieną šiek tiek išvažiavome iš parko, kad aplankytume Mono Lake. Įdomus jis tuo, kad kadaise čia buvo jūra, todėl ežeras yra sūrus, bene keturis kartus sūresnis už vandenyną. Dėl to prie ežero formuojasi įspūdingi druskos stulpai. Mistinis tas toks ežeras, su keista smulkia flora ir fauna.

That day we left the park a bit to visit a Mono Lake. Lake is interesting, because there was a sea in the past. That is why lake is salty, four times saltier than the ocean. It is a bit mystical, with an interesting flora and fauna.
Paskui vėl grįžom į kempingą, pernakvojome, ryte užsukom į Yosemite valley pasižiūrėti į didžiulį Yosemite krioklį ir pajudėjome link kitų dviejų Nacionalinių parkų - Kings Canyoin ir Sekvojų.

We got back to the campground for the last night. Then we visited Yosemite valley to see Yosemite Falls in the morning. After that we continued our trip to other National Parks - Kings Canyon and Sequoia.
Yosemite pakraštyje yra Mariposa Grove, kur galima pamatyti keletą nemažų sekvojų. Vieną iš jų, Grizlį, ėjome pamatyti.

Before leaving Yosemite, we have visited Mariposa Grove, where we saw some big sequoias, we visited mainly the one called Grizly.
Sekvojų ir Kings Canyon Nacionaliniai parkai pasitiko įspūdingais vingiuotais keliukais ir nerealiais kalnais. Kadangi kelias buvo ilgas, atvykę važiavome tiesiai į kempingą. Kadangi šitie parkai nėra tokie populiarūs kaip Yosemite, ten buvo ir žymiai mažiau žmonių.

Kings Canyon and Seqouia National parks had a lot of amazing viewpoints and less people as these are not so popular as Yosemite. We had a long trip that day, so we drove basically straight to the campground.
Kitą dieną skyrėme didžiosioms sekvojoms. Įspūdingos tikrai. Kaip ir kalnų, neįmanoma jų nufotografuoti. Reikia tiesiog pamatyti savo akimis.

We dedicated next day to big sequoias. They are really amazing. But as mountains, it is also difficult to catch that feeling with the camera. Need to see them with your own eyes.
Pabaigoje dar užkopėme į Moro kalvą, kur atsivėrė vaizdas į visas parko puses.

At the end, we climbed Moro Rock, where the view to the whole park opened.
Paskutinę dieną ir naktį praleidome vėl karštame kai ugnis mieste Bakerfield. Į Death Valley jau nebesuspėjome, liks kitam kartui. Na ir tuomet leidomės į kelionę atgal į LA, iš kurio skridom namo, pas savo mažylius. Paveikslėlyje galite matyti planą, kurį nusipaišėme prieš kelionę ir kuriuo bandėm vadovautis, bet ne griežtai. Apibendrinant kelionę galima pasakyti, kad gamta sužavėjo savo grožiu ir didybe - Justui labiausiai patiko sekvojos, man - vandenyno pakrantė. Žinoma, mus abu apžavėjo ir kalnai. Tačiau pati kultūra ir žmonės mums neatrodo artimi, todėl labai džiaugėmės grįžę į savo mažytę ir ne mažiau įdomią Europą. Ačiū, kad skaitote!

We spent the last day and night in a hot Bakerfield. We did not manage to reach Death Valley, next time. And then we drove back to LA, where we took a flight home, to our little one. You can see pur trip plan in the picture below. In conclusion, I would say, that we were impressed by the nature - Justas liked seqouias most, me - Pacific coast. We both also enjoyed mountains. But we do not feel a connection to the culture and the people. So we were quite happy to come back to our small but also very interesting Europe. Thanks for reading!
